Saturday June 21, 2025 Heading home

St Peter’s to Charlottetown - used a shuttle service Spent the afternoon walking around Charlottetown’s waterfront. Yes walking. Picked up a few things. Had another lobster roll for dinner and then back to the hotel for a good night sleep. As I type I am in the air on my way home. One of the pictures I am posting is a shot of  the items I was so happy I packed, the bandaids are missing. I used them as a preventive measure and it worked, only one little blister on my baby toe that a strategically placed bandaid took care of. Another picture I am posting is of a red glass heart that my friend Susan Brice gave me to carry in my pocket as I walked. The tag line for the Island Walk is “Come back different”. Can’t say I am different, but I did learn something over the 5 days of solitary walking, especially on the confederation trail.  Stop looking at the path up ahead because most often it was long with no end in sight, instead look around you at all the flora and fauna, the i...

Thursday June 19th Day 5 (last day)

Mr Stewart to St Peter’s Bay 25.43km 43,675 steps took me almost 8 hours when you include lunch and rest stops. Left Bishops B&B at 830 after another great breakfast. Today’s walk was all confederation trail. The walk from Morell to St. Peter’s Bay was the best part, before that it was much of the same, Really focused on what was around me and not on the path ahead  as there did not appear to be an end to it. Really glad I did as I saw and read about things that I may have missed. I got a surprise visit from my Beth in the Orkney Islands via a Facebook call. That was fun while it lasted, but we lost our connection. Same thing happened to Susan and I. Since I wasn’t there for our Sunday morning walk, I brought her along on my walk for a bit on Sunday. I saw these holes that were tunnelled in the path and found out they were made by chipmunks, every time I say the word chipmunks, I hear “Alvin!!” Also saw some beaver handy work. And some really odd shaped trees. One of them...

Wednesday June 18, 2025 Day 4

Brackley Beach to Mt Stewart 8.45 km and 35,174 steps As always my hosts at Shaw’s Hotel and Cottages sent me off with a great breakfast. Eggs Benedict, sausages and a great cup of coffee. Rain was in the forecast, took the rain jacket, but all I got was a few sprinkles so took off the rain jacket. It was all Confederation Trail today. Saw no BB other walkers just a couple dozen cyclists. The trail is mostly through wooded areas, used to be the railroad tracks. Got to Mt Stewart decided to take advantage of a resting place before going the last 4km Sat with 2 separate couples who were  cycling. One of the cyclists, Mary, bought me an ice cream cone.  After some much needed conversation and the end of the ice cream cone, it was time to move on to the finish, Bishop’s B&B.  Lobster dish of the day was seafood linguine which included a large piece of lobster tail.

Tuesday, June 17, 2025 Day 3

This day started off again with a great breakfast. The hosts at the Rustico Golf and Country Club treated me like a celebrity. Got to meet their little girl, and they sent me off with some banana bread and a chicken wrap for my lunch. Last night I made the decision that I would take advantage of the transport service and travel with my luggage to my next accommodation, Shaw's Inn and Cottages. This would cut the first 8kms off my walk that were going to be an all-road walk. I did alot of that yesterday afternoon and I didn't want to repeat that.   So happy with that decision. I started my walk at Brackley Beach and walked the Gulf Shore Parkway. It reminded me of the Lochside Trail. It runs parallel to the highway, and pretty close to the shoreline     It was a windy day, slight over cast, but warm. It was a no hat day. This section had lots of beaches, dunes, harbours, lakes etc to check out and with the extra time I had I spent time taking advantage of lookouts and benc...

Monday June 16, 2025 Second day of walking Walked from Cavendish to Cymbria  24.42km 41,936 steps After having breakfast at the Inn, I headed off on My Walk. It looks like it will be a good day for walking sunny, with temperatures from 12 to 22 degrees. Got my first stamp in my passport, not sure how to get one for this leg. The walk has been great so far, a little warm in the afternoons, and that seems to be where they put all the hills to climb and forgot the shade. Does give you a lot of time to think and ponder the meaning of life. Still no conclusion, but I have 3 more days of walking and thinking.              On the first part of the walk, there were lots of people on bicycles, mostly electric. No walkers. After North Rustico, there were no more bikes. I was the only one on the side of the road walking. Stopped in North Rustico for lunch and had - you guessed it Oysters. They were the best yet, fresh out of the bay right outside the w...
