My island walk

June 14th Charlottetown

Arrived here safe and sound and checked into the Great George Hotel. This is a great location and hotel. It is a cluster of restored heritage buildings situated in Charlottetown's National Historic District and they have a pretty good complimentary breakfast too.

After checking in, went a wandering and stopped for lunch and had that most delicious bowl of chowder.

As I didn't sleep much on the plane, it was back to the hotel for a nap. Nap ended up being a little longer than planned.
Went to the hotel social hour and met some folks from Kelowna and Toronto and then off to dinner.
Dinner was at Claddagh, and it didn't disappoint me. Sat at the bar where Jonah took care of me.

**Reader alert - there will be a lot of postings and pictures of food 😋

June 14th Charlottetown
After breakfast, I went walking down to the waterfront and checked out the shops along the way for future reference.
Stopped for lunch at the Sea Rocket Oyster House and some more oysters (eating too many oysters, said no one ever) and their fish tacos. Again, it was very good. All so fresh. Sat at the bar and had 2 very nice young people behind the bar to chat with. They gave me some good leads on where to have the best lobster dinner on the NorthShore.

Back to the hotel for a nap. Sleeping seems to be in these little chunks (naps). Hopefully I will be able to sleep for the full night as I start my walk tomorrow.
Going to the Cork and Cast for dinner. Maybe I'll have some oysters for a change.
After dinner it will be prep time for tomorrow, packing up the backpack with what I hope will be the needs of the day followed by a bath and then to bed.

One goal I have while on this walk is to eat lobster in as many different ways as possible. Another is to see a red fox, the island's provincial animal and I am told it can be found throughout the island in both rural and urban areas, like our deer 😉

That's it for today. Will check in at the end of the day tomorrow and let you know how my first section of the walk went.
